Business Verification Policy
This policy outlines IBBF's voluntary business verification process, its scope, limitations, and what verification means for businesses and consumers.
Purpose of Business Verification
IBBF offers a voluntary business verification process to help users understand whether a business has submitted basic identity and operational information to the platform.
- Verification helps improve transparency
- Verification does not imply endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of service quality
Eligibility for Verification
Any business operating in India may apply for verification, including:
- Proprietorships
- Partnerships
- LLPs
- Private or Public Limited Companies
Verification is optional and independent of complaints or reviews.
Information Required for Verification
Businesses may be asked to submit:
- Registered business name
- Type of entity
- Registered address
- Government-issued business identifiers (as applicable)
- Official email address and contact details
Documents are submitted digitally through the IBBF platform.
Verification Review Process
IBBF reviews submitted information to:
- Check completeness and consistency
- Confirm document submission
- Verify basic identity details
IBBF does not audit business operations, finances, service quality, or legal compliance.
Verification Status
After review, a business may be marked as:
Verification status reflects documentation review only.
Use of Verification Badge
Verified businesses may display an IBBF verification badge on their profile. The badge:
- Indicates participation in the verification process
- Does not represent approval, certification, or regulatory clearance
- Does not affect complaint outcomes or dispute resolution
IBBF may revoke verification status if submitted information is found to be inaccurate or misleading.
Relationship to Complaints and Reviews
- Verification status is separate from complaints and reviews
- A verified business may still receive complaints
- Verification does not prevent public visibility of complaint status
- Complaint handling depends on documentation and response behaviour, not verification alone
Business Responsibilities
Verified businesses are responsible for:
- Keeping submitted information accurate and up to date
- Responding to complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Avoiding misleading use of the verification badge
Misuse of verification status may result in removal.
Limitation of IBBF's Role
IBBF:
- Does not act as an agent, legal representative, or authority for any business
- Does not enforce decisions or impose penalties
- Does not guarantee outcomes or business performance
Verification is informational only.
Business verification on IBBF is voluntary and informational. Verification does not imply endorsement or guarantee of any kind.
